20191005 #Inktober and Twitch Affiliate

YA’LL it has been a while.

I also need a new post on the audio diary.

Last year I started Inktober.

I like the concept of forcing yourself to draw each day,

forcing yourself to take a prompt

and breathe it into life.

Force in a desired way btw.

Last year I only did two words.

I chose words I clearly knew HOW I was going to depict.

But even though I had some supplies,

(I have many a colored stabilo and sharpie, ya’ll.)

I really wanted to ink them.

(Inspired by hand-lettering / calligrapher Instagram accounts and our fountain pen friend.)

I got to thinking,

‘what would be the less wasteful / most zero(-ish)-waste means of going about this?’

Let’s face it,

most of us,

when a pen or marker runs out of ink or is broken,

we toss it.

reflex.

I know I have tossed many a marker that ran out of juice.

Thinking of that

I wanted a more sustainable solution,

that offered pink ink,

and the least amount of plastic (packaging).

NIBS AND INK IT IS!

I had already utilized Jet Pens for a really nice fountain pen gift

for a friend who writes.

I utilized Jet Pens again to find ink, suitable paper, nibs, a nib holder, etc.

They have videos and tutorials on pens, inks, papers, etc.,

as well as compatible products / parts for products you select.

Customer service is pretty thoughtful as well, if you have specific concerns.

So up until

yesterday lol

I was avoiding pen /marker purchases.

Granted,

I discovered today I am SUPER not doing Inktober the right way

but no one is going to wag a finger

because the basis of the exercise is

to have fun

draw daily to help get better skills,

and build better habits.

Like preferred method should be black and white

like inked in india ink.

So the #allpinkeverything as not a preferred method,

but I was keeping it monochrome.

Today and yesterday though,

lol,

totally not monochrome.

I like color.

I learned mostly through the exercise,

I do not make enough time

to complete prompts the way I like.

IE execute the word in a way I am completely satisfied with.

It is pretty hard to make things punny lol

I REALLY wanted to make everything punny,

but

I still managed to make them all meaningful *to me.*

It is a fun and lighthearted exercise

but I still wanted to make it meaningful,

seeing that I tend to not post anymore unless I feel strongly enough to post.

I also am very impatient,

and make up for my lack of shading skill

by utilizing the ink like watercolor.

Part of the minimalism / zero-ish waste track for me,

was limiting consumption

and also limiting over-sharing lol.

I Chose only to share

in the feed

things that are truly meaningful.

So this is the first time I have posted daily

in at least two plus years.

PS I shit post daily to the story.

Twitch Affiliate

So I forgot when I qualified for the Affiliate program.

I knew I definitely had the option my this summer.

Seeing that Twitch writes

they are not equipped to go over the documentation with you

I was hesitant.

Also, I wanted to explore multi streaming.

Multi-streaming is against TOS once you agree to be affiliate.

But ultimately,

come this past month,

I decided I wanted to be affiliate

and monetize

by my half birthday, October 27.

So as of September 27 I am Twitch Affiliate.

I am so grateful I have support.

I currently have two subscribers, and donations from regulars in the chat.

And I think I designed my emote?

So, no trying to multi-stream.

Plus, most accounts I signed up to multi-stream to/through

are Chinese and I can’t read Chinese.

I figure I should grow via twitch then see what happens.

Pretty happy,

learning stuff because I AM NOT COMPUTER SAAVY,

Friends have been DMing me about possible lewd stuff

as I was curious about how certain sites worked,

possible social implications,

and me not wanting to tie everything to my main handle,

should I go down that particular rabbit hole.

Not into double standards or unnecessary harassment.

People enjoy stuff but smut/slut/kink shame?

gtfo please

lewd shit is easier to get away with

without social implications as a guy

but not as a female

but the money is there as a female

and not necessarily as a guy.

wish we were more progressive.

I am grateful for everyone who has helped me,

given me suggestions,

told me what they did,

given me opinions on what they think isn’t super necessary to worry about,

so I have some additional input to weigh my options.

Like I am looking at wifi extenders in hopes of us doing more in the kitchen,

and I still need to find a solution for mobile streaming set-up in the kitchen

without dragging a laptop in there,

using an older samsung device which may or may not be able to handle it,

or streaming from the twitch native app.

(my phone overheats apparently.)

I eventually want to go full time,

but I do have some things I want to do first,

like paying my family back for bailing me out of debt,

and having enough money to sustain myself for a few months

once I do go full time

because it likely won’t be sustainable when I am ready to do the dive.

Luckily I have time to grow

and learn before the full time option becomes realized.

By then I should have hopefully

LESS

financial obligations.

I have been spending of late,

but big spends have been doctors visits

versus sephora

(that would have been 2014/2015 me for sure).

I don’t eat out as much.

IE no after shift meals at the karaoke bar,

and fewer solo sushi lunches.

I get a monthly haircut and facial treatment

(Skin care is important, and I have an undercut to maintain.)

Before I would cut my hair maybe once a year

and do a facial every few months, if even.

I have chosen to allocate my money differently,

based on what I have valued.

And saving more

er kinda

I give more to my family for helping me

and me wanting to pay them back sooner than later.

And money to help build a fund

so we can start getting a home health professional in the house.

On a semi-regular basis.

Mom was trying to haggle a rate with the last person that came by.

Dad needs a lot of help.

Trusting a human you don’t know with a human you care about

we should be able to pay them more.

lots of stuff.

but these are the most recent milestones.

and actually doing inktober daily and in order.

and for xmas I will get myself a terracycle box to feel less guilty about using pens/markers.
